Nestled on the north side of Cincinnati, Maketewah’s history dates back to 1897 as a 3,000-yard course then known as Avondale Athletic Club. In 1911, members moved the club to its present location where Tom Bendelow and Donald Ross completed an 18-hole course that debuted in 1929 under the name Maketewah Country Club. Known as one of the longest-standing United States Open Local Qualifying courses, Maketewah's classic layout uses the land's natural topography to create a formidable test.

The 2025 Women’s Western Junior will be the club’s first WWGA championship.
